So the same paper that won @PulitzerPrizes for revealing a cover-up of sex abuse throws a softball to another abuser. #MeToo

This is an awful attempt at redeeming a misogynist while gaslighting his victims. There's no "irony" in his accusations. He knew they were coming, so he wrote the New Yorker piece. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves for providing a platform to a powerful, abusive man.
-
I'm torn by the Diaz case, Stephen. I think it's not as clear-cut as you're saying. I see merits on both sides, and will concede that his behavior is at least very concerning, but I'm just not as sure as you are. Successful gaslighting or a complicated case? Don't really know.
-
I'm not torn. I've read the accounts of his victims. I believe them, and I stand with them. One person hurt would have been enough for me to make up my mind. Díaz hurt many more. His own abuse does not excuse his behavior, yet he weaponized it in the New Yorker piece.
-
I'm glad you tweeted back. After responding to you, I found a thread response from one of his victims (Alissa Somebody- can't remember her last name) which further complicates everything for me because she comes across as extremely authentic. I'm just struggling w/this mightily.
-
One major point that was made by Alissa is that Diaz has been assigned by the powers that be to be the gatekeeper of Latino voices in literature, essentially shutting out other worthy voices for leadership.
-
At it's core, we must remember that the
#MeToo
movement is also about the loss of economic and employment opportunities due to the protection of perpetrators. Perhaps the Diaz case will help give rise to other gatekeepers/leaders. At the very least this issue ought to be debated. -
I realize this issue is far from settled, and I do understand the objections to the tone of the
@BostonGlobe article, especially for the women who felt victimized. I'm glad we can still discuss this even if we're not totally on the same page. -
Alisa Rivera. I would also recommend checking out the feeds of Monica Byrne (monicabyrne13 - she was verbally harassed by Díaz and has been listening to stories from his victims, many who prefer to remain anonymous for fear of repercussions) and Zinzi Clemmons (zinziclemmons).

I have read most of the twittered accusations & responses & essays & editorials & letters & see NO evidence of assault, illegal behavior &/or abusive treatment by JD. He was lynchmobbed by ppl who expect/-ed too much from him & they need to stop the bullying & slander.

This is the year of blockchain technologies. After my research, I can admit that DeepVault is one of the most promising technologies out there. Great job
