Absolutely not. We should shut out all outside money and opportunity to improve our infrastructure. Just like we did with the Olympics.

No. You would have to build 4 to 6 stadiums for the matches & AFAIK, Boston doesn't have free space. Plus, your infrastructure couldn't handle all the people. Plus, it should be in a country that appreciates the sport.

Why would Boston need to build 4-6 stadiums? The matches are spread out across the US.

No - what stadiums do you think can realistically hold a World Cup

Right, so you have the matches at Gillette which is plenty big. What's the issue?

There are 32 teams in the World Cup, which 16 first round matches. The World Cup last one month. Where are you holding 16 matches within 3 days? All in Gillette?

You understand the World Cup is hosted by a country, not a city, right? Its not like the Olympics. Boston would get 3 matches tops. The other matches are played throughout the US.

Haha yes I understand that, but the way the article is written threw me off. It made it sound like Boston would be the main host city like LA is for the Olympics.

This is a pretty ridiculous article. Nowhere in here does it outline the actual incredible positives to having the biggest sporting event in the world in Boston. The city would receive millions of dollars etc, take the World Cup.

This is still a pretty provincial town though, residents look at the traffic and hassles that come with it unfortunately

Yeah, but consider the traffic that I used to get going to pats games and I would be willing to sit through twice that to watch even a group stage match.
