The Bosque

@BosqueUbc

The university wanted to chop at least 8 of us down for a small building that could easily go elsewhere. The community fought back and we were saved!

Thank you ! The blockade closer to the curb has been removed. We still hope that the signage gets changed some day, but this is a good start. Thanks again.

Here's what to do when you spot drivers illegally parked on campus.

A very sad reminder to why the recent Wesbrook Mall upgrades should have included protected bike lanes.

  4. 24. sij

Did you know that is allowing ride hail pick up and drop off at the Nest? There are already countless pedestrian and cyclist conflicts with private vehicles in this area every day, not to mention blocked buses.

  5. 22. sij

Hi In July, one blocks on East Mall near Walter Gage Rd was turned so bikes don't have to use the opposing traffic lane (left image). The block has now been put back (right). Why? This time, can you please move the block closer to curb and also fix the signage? Thx

And again. Same place. Why does allow contractors to block campus pathways? Maybe if the service vehicle parking wasn't occupied by a dumpster and recycling bins, the space could be used for its intended purpose.

  7. 21. sij

This is terrible. Given the amount of money students must pay for a space in residence you would think they would get properly functioning laundry equipment. Apparently not.

Film crews might pay but we suspect these contractors don't. This is the old GSAB site on the corner of U Blvd and Westbrook.

  9. 20. sij

We know that the old GSAB building at U Blvd and Wesbrook had its problems, but surely using it for temporary offices or classrooms would have been better than how the land is currently being used: free parking for contractors and storing construction crap.

Also sickening are the salaries at UBC Properties Trust. In this 2018 financial report it looks like CEO Aubrey Kelly was paid $454,483 and that he had $35,123 in expenses (page 81).

Where were they clearing slow? This was 8:45 am.

As usual, narrow paths cleared in some spots, but most areas untouched by operations and still covered in snow/slush. This mess will melt a bit during the day, freeze into bumpy ice overnight, and then be covered by the new snow in the forecast. The same bloody thing every time.

Today, a survey asked us which of the following potential covers to Trek magazine makes us feel proud to be part of the university. 🙄

So, you know that bike lane on Wesbrook that was so excited about? It's now blocked by construction. No safe alternative provided. really doesn't seem to care at all about cyclists.

We're happy about the RapidBus, but disappointed that couldn't design the priority lane at in a way that isn't dangerous to cyclists. Paint is not infrastructure.

If this construction company actually cared about safety their fence wouldn't be blocking the sidewalk. And once again, there is no sidewalk closed ahead signage from either direction.

We would love to see the trolley bus loop become bus, bike, and EV only and the new MacInnes field parkade become half secure bike parking like the one in the image and half EV parking.

Last week, emergency. This week, carry on with polluting, noisy leaf blowers. More smoke (literally) and mirrors from ? Or will the administration actually take the declaration seriously?
