Hey, @YouTube & @TeamYouTube. Let me teach you about a thing called fan-creators. We create stuff (music, animations, etc.) inspired by shows, games, movies, books, etc., and people view it. Some of us are literally living off of the ad revenue.

We wouldn't be able to offer anything better - the site's not operated for a profit, and in fact we don't even charge for most of the ads we display on the site (we do a lot of free advertising for creators). There's no way we could do revenue sharing or anything like that.

A lot of artists stopped relying on youtube for income long ago and this isn't just about ad revenue and monetization. Notifications, comments, and recommendations are being taken away too, so this is a total communications blackout being dropped on us.
