But it is clear that the protests have been sadly hijacked by extremists intent on violence. The attacks on the police and indiscriminate acts of violence which we have witnessed over the last week are intolerable and they are abhorrent. 7/8

Statues currently teach us a very one sided past, with none of Empire's faults (bit like your thread). Successive governments (including yours) lie about our history and, in so doing, have impoverished education for generations. Change is coming. 0/10

They ARE the lie about British history The obsession with gloryfying the history of an empire that was built on racism and slavery. The destruction of indigenous cultures, enforced religion, the pillaging of nations natural resources, and brutality. That’s what this is about!

Don't think spain were blameless there either, particularly shipping slaves to the colonies. Britain was the first to abolish slavery and used 40% of it's wealth to do so, only paid off in 2015. Britain is one of the most multicultural and tolerant country on the planet - fact.
