A joke is a social contract, based on everyone involved agreeing it’s a joke. If you walk up to a coworker and shout “Your breath fucking stinks” and then add “just kidding” that doesn’t make you a harmless japester and that coworker a goofy sap.

It's not about if Crowder's audience was in on the "jokes." Was the actual target, the butt/victim, of Crowder's joke in on his joke? You're here partially bc they (the target) were not in on the joke. Bigoted jokes are rarely funny & only funny when the target is in on them.

If any comedian, entertainer, what have you, is making a joke about a marginalized person or group and the majority of those people aren't laughing along then it's not a joke. It's a call to action. Which you, and everyone else in here aligned with you, are still acting on.
