The movie literally ends with Batman promising to help Freeze continue his research to cure Nora

Came here to say just that.

Which ties back to the original post I think Like a "well written" villain is one who is empathetic, so they give their villains reasonable aims But then they need to justify the heroic conflict and can't make it too nuanced, so the villains must join in some pointless cruelty

Would he, though? "I have to clean up the city because they killed my parents" doesn't always scale up to, "We must save the planet for all life and all people, good or bad". BM seemed more, "think globally, act locally" but without the first part?

Yes, Batman has literally save the world. Hes a founding member of the Justice League. He cares about the world.

She wants to wipe out most of humanity and Freeze doesn't give a damn if he kills millions of people. I swear, the stretches people keep taking to make these people the good guys...

In the movie Mr Freeze didn't want to "cool the planet" he wanted to kill everyone, and Batman did end up helping him at the end. Poison Ivy also wanted to kill everyone, but for plant reasons, and Bruce does say to her his company has a lot of environmental efforts.
-
And in recent years in the comics Ivy has become more of an anti-hero and even been on hero teams, so I imagine any future movie with Ivy will have her be more of a hero than a villain.

Okay, we can quibble over Ivy as she did care about plants over people and other animals so that fits with the OP being responded to, but Freeze was not "cooling the planet" in a "I wanna stop global warming sense" he just wanted to kill people.
