Seriously, I do not see the purpose of human existence continuing without cities, so if you tell me that cities will end human existence in [x amount of time], if that's how you choose to define your argument, then my response is "let's enjoy [x amount of time]"

The way I live - in a suburban house - is less sustainable than living in a thousand unit adjustment building adjacent to a shared green space. I also need to use much of my free time tending the lawn, clearing snow etc. It's the life I chose, but it has its drawbacks

This picture was taken twenty feet from the parking lot of my four hundred unit building and it's AMAZEBALLS.pic.twitter.com/yIECLktbjp

Also- is cottage-core at its heart about anything more than a vague feeling of comfort in simplicity?
-
racism, probably?

Honestly, my private theory about cottage core and the like is that these people went to Montessori/Waldorf schools and never really got over it.

Every serious environmentalist I know will tell you that cities are per capita better for the environment than suburban/rural living The heating costs ALONE, do you have any idea how much heat you lose with a detached house vs a giant high rise with hundreds of apartments
-
This is not to say cities as they exist now are perfect, there is plenty of waste and pollution that needs to be eliminated But the answer is better cities, not cottages for everyone
