I understand the need to protect vulnerable people and I'm not advocating we drop all social distancing, but some of us are psychologically vulnerable as well. I honestly think putting the responsibility of the virus on individuals is more "neoliberal"than anything Biden ever did

I mean frankly the closure of the Canadian and Mexican borders terrifies me. I had always counted on if Trump hit the next Hitler level being able to just drive to Canada and get 90 days to figure out what to do next. Now if he decides I should die, I'm just fcked

I mean this is literally the backstory of V for Vendetta. (I don't mean the part of that where the virus was engineered, but I'm absolutely terrified that the government of the US, now that it's ensured I have nowhere to run, will use this opportunity to end people like me)

The pandemic will enable abuses of power, depress voter turnout, and close newsrooms. All of those things help the White House. The worse it gets, the more they're helped. The math is really easy on this one.

It makes sense to me that Canada wanted to close down the border with the US, but it makes less sense to me why the US readily agreed.

It makes perfect sense if you're paranoid like me

I think incompetence plays a roughly equal role but yeah this too. Situation back home in India is not looking good on both fronts.

I'm no expert, but I'm studying public policy right now and what I'm seeing in Canada (my country) is a massive system trying to adapt. Iceland has a pop of 364,260. Canada's pop is 37.59 million. The tech is there but the infrastructure isn't. It will be, but not yet.

I think this is paranoid terror.

It is. But this whole thing is absurdly ridiculous
