People are weirdly invested in the idea that a vote is some sort of pact.

No. You don’t. Honestly, at times, it feels like leftists hate liberals more than conservatives.

No, you absolutely don't deserve grief for this at all. This is one of the things that makes me crazy about too many on the hard left - the fact that they are so intent on "principles" that they ignore the fact they are sacrificing *other people's lives* for "conscience." 1/2

The thing about that is, that makes them functionally no different from those on the hard right who are willing to sacrifice other people's lives for their "principles", but there's no willingness to see the physical effect is the same. 2/2

...Also, as an afterthought, none of these "principled" people seem to have enough familiarity with history to recognise that "burning it all down" often **doesn't** result in the creation of a better, more functional system afterwards. Often, it just stays ruin and ashes.

Yep. How many revolutions actually end up succeeding and providing a better situation? Most end up either failing or ushering in an even worse system. Burning everything down and starting over is even more unlikely to succeed and should be the absolute last resort.
