I can't get into details because of privacy, but I witnessed a case of severe "lateral" worker abuse of other workers based on identity category today - not in my workplace to be clear. It disgusted me, the cruelty of a group of workers to one worker with a marginalized identity

This is why I cannot get behind class politics. Your boss is often nowhere close to the threat your peers are, and being class centric leads to things like accusations of class treason if you are a worker abused by your peers and speak out

Class politics is the "don't tattle to the teacher" high school bully mentality

Also, I have a strong sense that abuse from bosses gets worse the more you get into the dreaded "professional managerial class" - where the people who can fire you are pretending to be peers. When the hierarchy is clear, it's your peers you need to be afraid of

And in the end, all class can be reduced to identity. People are marginalized in resources because of race, gender, class, age, sexual orientation, educational background and disability. The attempt to constitute the "worker" always assumes privilege in all these areas

And if you are a cishet white male under 50 without health or disability issues who has had the educational opportunities for what you want to do, I see no reason why you need solidarity when so many others with identities are suffering.

It seems fundamentally homophobic, sexist, ageist, transphobic, etc. to focus on "workers" and not on the categories of marginalization and hate which make up our society's injustice

Making money is peripheral to the desire of people without identities to hurt those who have them

Class centric people love to talk about how much wealth the evil rich have, and usually imply those are people with identities because who else could afford to have an identity? But with all that vast wealth, why would they put much effort into oppression?

When the rich or poor oppress they do it from hate. Identity reductionism. Identity politics only. I draw the line here

Also: a lot of people with identities have false consciousness. Yeah, yeah, I'm stealing the term from class politics, whatever. They think somehow helping the "class" they only belong to because their identity leads others to hurt them for fun will help them. It won't

What the fck is "class" if not economic conditions people are trapped in *because of their identity*?

Also, people will be like "what about people who never had the chance to get out of a shthole where they had no opportunity" and folks, 1) I'm from a shthole with no opportunity and currently stuck there and 2) being from a shthole with no opportunity IS AN IDENTITY
