In Vader's case wouldn't it be more accurate to say he fell NEAR some chemicals? (That chemical being molten lava)

Yeah, I kind of have the old school backstory stuck in my head even though RotS is 15 years old now. (The original lore, from old action figure packaging from the 70s and passed down to fans through a generation, was that Vader fell into *acid*)

Multiple interpretations prolly helps. Anytime a version of the Joker does something you think crosses the line there are another 8 versions waiting to take his place. Whereas there is one canonical Vader, who killed his pregnant wife and a lot of kids
-
Also Joker is anti-authority, so he appeals to that instinct to do whatever you want insisting the real violence is society. Vader is the authority, there's no system above him that he can claim as the greater evil

After actually experiencing what seems like America disintegrating and falling towards fascism Vader is more "justifiable" in the sense that he is less unrealistic than he seemed to me before.
-
Like his fears mixed with the manipulation and misinformation makes it completely understandable that he'd make a big mistake.

With J “iTs AbOuT tHe MeNtTaLlY iLl” but the Anakin stans tend to blame it on the Jedi who totally failed to recognize and treat his PTSD and the latter aren’t wrong but not as right as they think they are

Because pre-RotJ Vader actually holds up as a Villain who owns it so people don't have to bend over backwards to make out he's misunderstood or sympathetic to justify liking him.
