Dr. Ellie Lockhart. Republic serial villain. Retweeted The Jacob Wohl Report

I knew a guy who posted on a forum I used to frequent who also had a spreadsheet of people he knew (I think it was just for online but it might have been IRL). in his case he had some kind of neurodivergence reason related to memory issues, IIRChttps://twitter.com/JacobWohlReport/status/1226195086221991936 …

    The Jacob Wohl Report @JacobWohlReport
Jacob Wohl keeps a list of his friends and acquaintances in Excel? That’s psychotic Also isn’t the entire point of keeping this in Excel to look at the numbers? You shouldn’t have to say “more than I care to count” because you have the actual numbers in Excel? This guy... pic.twitter.com/6dPkaUZ3OY

That was my first thought! I've definitely got a spreadsheet of Christmas card addresses

I have a lot of cousins that I'd only see once a year, and I struggle with names/faces. So when I was a kid, I put together a DoS database listing all my cousin's with memorable physical features. I'd print it off and study it before going to see them. Just seems sensible...

At the risk of defending Wohl, who is a walking obscenity, this strikes me as a bit like a modern version of a little black book, Rolodex, private journal, etc. It's just electronic. If you know a lot of people and want to remember what to say when you correspond, it's prudent.

Yeah, I see no issue with it (and you know the person I referred to who does this; I never found it troubling, and understood why he did this)

lol Wohl is awful but THIS is nonsense. I don't personally keep a list of my friends and acquaintances in Excel, but honestly I probably SHOULD. How helpful it would be to have needed info immediately to hand. Also in general I keep lists of so many things in Excel!

it's gotta be, specifically, the rise of social media that makes this seem like such a weird concept. "Why would you list all your friends in a spreadsheet when you could just look on facebook? Why would anyone keep a big yellow book in their house with everyone's phone# in it?"
