The actual entire problem is this idea that women are the ones to protect purity, and that makes men angry at them. Lysistrata is really just reinforcing the worst ideas about who is responsible for sex and purity. It reinforces the gender divide.

Interesting. I always interpreted it as a protest against war. For the Greeks that was one of the few tools available to women. Yes many things have changed since then. But as an anti war play I still think it’s useful. Also it was kind of a joke since I don’t really know how

Agreed. Definitely was a protest of war... which made sense because the soldiers of the war were their husbands. Not sure how sexually protesting your loved ones protests the sexual harassers themselves... cuz they’re usually two different people
