We use our hair as a means to express our beauty a multitude of ways and just because white people do not understand it, does not mean we should have to conform to one standard. Why? Because it’s not for them in the first place. For us, by us.

They don’t know what it’s like to sit in between their mothers legs every week to get their hair done for hours on end. Or how to wrap their hair up at night. They don’t even understand how protective styling works or how we wash our hair once a week.
