(Flowers are a whole different beast and they are too needy to have such short lifespans, so I buy my flowers from local nurseries or Trader Joe's.)

I want to add that spacing & drainage is very important for plants. The pots you choose must allow for proper comfort & drainage or your plant will starve or drown. I put rocks at bottom of most of my plants, for extra drainage, and I own a moisture meter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y5P1WJ2/ref=asc_df_B06Y5P1WJ25332991/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=395033&creativeASIN=B06Y5P1WJ2&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198107334619&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13649807580433303599&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9008183&hvtargid=pla-318369581686 …

Do NOT put small plants in big-ass pots. I know, you're thinking, "My plant will have plenty of room to grow!" That is not how it works. Imagine yourself walking around in a shoe that is 4 sizes too large. That is what it feels like for your plants. They need a certain snugness.

SmartPots are great! They are designed to support temperature regulation and they help the plants' roots to self-prune to an extent. I place plants like Monstera and Fiddle Leaf in the SmartPot, then I put it in their hard pots (with rocks at bottom).https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Pots-5-Gallon-Soft-Sided-Container/dp/B002JUOWB2/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1515697478&sr=8-6&keywords=smart+pot …

(Re: SmartPots, just poke around the internet for proper gallon to pot size conversion.)

Wanted to post an example of felt pot use. This is a 3-gallon size that I used for my newly propagated monstera. They are incredibly strong and affordable. Exact product: (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TF9E4UO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_EvsxAbAGTQ2Z4 …) $13 for a pack of 5!pic.twitter.com/WhNiRetbii

If you DM your address I’ll send you a felt pot and a tray to try. These are 3 gallon though, so it’s not for small plants.

This is how felt pot watering looks. (Look at the bottom of the pot.) Absorbs it, then gets rid of whatever the plant won’t need.
