The ACOG recommends starting at 21 years-old or when you start having sex. Then, every 5 years until you turn 30. Upon turning 30, they recommend every 3 years. I did say it depends. I read that from the ACOG but I’m honestly not convinced that’s necessarily healthy because there’s no real reasoning behind the “recommendation”.

The reasoning they provided was that cervical cells take 3-7 years to develop into detectable cancerous cervical cells.

It makes sense to me, for people whose paps return with normal cell counts.
