Seems like they were more concerned with making Nola Darling viral rather than giving meaningful work.

In the film, all the guys knew about each other the entire time. They’d met each other and would talk to Nola about the other men by name.

Nola even loved Jamie and expressed her love for him and he then violated her in a way that even Spike said he wished he’d left out.

There was so much in the movie that is still relevant today, but instead of really digging into what they had, they created meaningless storylines to add color. It made it all more bland and corny.

Jamie was not married in the movie. Nor was Nola a strugglinggggg Artíst who needed to rely on Jamie for her livelihood. Now if they wanted to add some spice in Jamie’s storyline, we could’ve found out on the last episode that he’s married. Keep us on our toes.

And Nola’s assault on the street. That interaction lasted maybe 1 minute max, but we had to sit through 10 minutes of shemekka getting ass shots. Just why?!

Nola gets assaulted, posts some posters around the city. That’s it. No exploration on how harmful street harassment is. No context. The entire series is missing context.

Even the therapy. It was all shallow. Let’s see how much we can throw into 10 episodes. No real rhyme or reason. And the dress episode. HOW FUCKING CLICHE WAS THAT?!

Let’s put her in a cheap dress and let that be the catalyst to show how trash men are. Newsflash, Nola didn’t need to be in a cheap hoe dress for men to reveal their aintshitness.

And from the articles I’ve read on the series, there were multiple writers involved. And you can tell. You never get a full sense of what’s going on. The characters don’t develop, they are almost manic.

The only character you even get any type of feelings for is Opal. So. Whoever did Opal, kudos to you for your writing but everyone else? Boo, you whore.
