I really need y’all to understand trauma. The social stigma attached to being looked at as a “victim”. How people will use it to victimize you further. And how the human brain KNOWS this and DOES NOT WANT IT.
Your brain would rather you suffer in silence than to come forward and have to be traumatized psychologically by people asking about the trauma. It’s perpetual victimhood and that’s why people don’t come forward.

On top of the fact that we know justice is rarely served when it comes to sexual assault or DV. People who come forward elect themselves into more trauma. Choosing that takes immenseee strength.

So when you ask why victims are coming forward, that’s why. Everyone doesn’t want the Victim scarlet letter. And after going through it, can you blame them?

Someone’s gonna day yes and I’m going to block you. Just a warning.

this was/still is me. I have only ever come forward once and the aftermath was enough to never make me want to say anything since. it’s a re-traumatization, and it’s too much.
