I see some of the advice really reinforcing patriarchy as a means to a “kept” life and... that ain’t it. These women are telling the girls to not argue or challenge these dumb men if they want a piece of the pie. Where are the SUSTAINABLE LOVE coaches at?

And they keep telling us about the men they’ve dated. Past tense. Honey. Where is the sustainability in these lifestyles and the long term goals? Where is this taking anyone? How is it improving black women’s lives overall? I honestly feel like it’s making things worse.

They’re telling black women that if they can get a rich man all of their love problems will just disappear into thin air. People with sense will understand how multifaceted “love” is. They’re not selling the girls holistic love. It’s just Sugar Baby Lite™.

All in all: Heterosexuality is a scam. Women have been tricked for long enough thinking they need to put so much stock into securing a man. NEWSFLASH SIS, THEY FOR EVERYBODY. Just worry about improving yourself.

I think both sides of this argument (”lite sugaring” vs “decentering men”) are flawed. Empowerment is about having the right to make your own choices outside of the borders of oppression It’s not about forgetting about men, ignoring your need for affection or being a sugar baby
