We aren’t the same generation lol and idk who/why ppl are comparing her to Beyoncé lol I don’t think anyone *has* to grab multiple generations. Beyoncé didn’t even do that starting out

As Normani, we are. She grew up on the same stuff we did. Her video is an ode to our childhood. I understand her target audience isn’t us because of the group’s success but as a solo artist who is a darker skinned black woman? More r&b influence is necessary.
-
R&b as we know it is virtually dead & the revival of it isn’t her, that’s ok. She absolutely doesn’t fit in with the H.E.R or ari Lennox type girls
-
I (and the rest of us) aren’t asking for full fledge r&b. She can give us vocals and choreography, but the sound is not it. It’s too pop for her to give us that & then give us a BET video. There’s no consistency between look+sound. She needs (some) r&b influence to bridge the gap
-
Yea but she’s given those songs as well. It’s like what else do ppl want? She’s given both. She has her fans & they’re supporting. What is the measurement of success to you?
-
I’ve only heard one song with says influence (Love Lies) and success is subjective so I can’t speak on that for her. But what I can say is the expectation is not meeting the reality. Now if that’s not her goal, cool. But I know she wants to hit it big.
-
I think the older crowd is expecting too much from her. We are expecting sounds from the girls we grew up and that’s not going to happen
-
Maybe. I curbed my expectations but then I saw that video and got annoyed all over again lol
