Restorative justice. Which includes restitution paid to the victims. It has been proven to be more effective than systems built on retribution.

Besides restitution what else is helping get justice for victims? I’ll have to be honest if someone kills my family member I don’t want a check and the person to go to therapy and be released.

It sounds like you’d want vengeance. Which is completely understandable. You want the offender to suffer in a way that you’ve suffered. But vengeance and justice aren’t the same thing.

I don’t want vengeance but justice is what’s deserved. Some ppl deserve to sit in s cage. Most don’t. But some do no doubt. There’s no amount of restoration that is applicable to certain crimes and that’s where I think abolitionists need to reconsider who is entitled to it.
