I always used to think Medusa was evil and ugly but the truth is that she wasn’t punished by Hera, she was given protection from men. She’s used as a symbol of protection at brothels and stuff like that. She’s supposed to be an image of strength and protection for women
Idk I think that’s all up to interpretation because if the curse was to protect her from men then common sense would say that she should’ve only been able to turn men to stone.
It’s the truth. Her face is also often used on half way houses for abused women. Her name means “Guardian, Protectress.”
I got called Medusa before when my locs was long by a kid that had mental illness and he said it to me like a compliment with a smile he was excited he even tried to ruffle my hair to make them move for his imagination of snakes lol
I had locs and I had that same problem ....pic.twitter.com/65GYJqBz5g
Medusa is a snake literally because the female Gods hated on her so don’t trip you was always good
I remember a similar experience and when I would get my kinky twist they would say things like “snakes on a plane”.
Medusa was the symbol of matriarchy feared by Greeks.. and yes those were locks.
I got called whoopie goldberg
This happened to me lol
I was called Medusa for having braids with beads til I was like 13 but you know who STUNTED ON THEN with the beads matching the windbreaker two piece and champions.pic.twitter.com/f3PaQQLukk
I don't get how anyone could have made fun of black girls hair. I thought(/still think) it looked amazing as a little kid. They were definitely hating because they were jealous.
wow I just remembered when my mom would do my hair in the African plaits and those lil baldhead niglets at school would call me medusa. it be ur own
I head canon that she eventually got her revenge on Athena & Poseidon and the busted up statues are all that remain of the Greek Pantheon.
Was that before or after she got beheaded?
#partypooper
the exact same thing happened to me but i have locs
