As a child, my mom would do my hair in box braids and the neighborhood girls would make fun of me, calling me Medusa. As an adult, I see they were some hating ass hoes and Medusa was always THAT bitch.https://twitter.com/syiphee/status/1139156761091432450 …

I always used to think Medusa was evil and ugly but the truth is that she wasn’t punished by Hera, she was given protection from men. She’s used as a symbol of protection at brothels and stuff like that. She’s supposed to be an image of strength and protection for women

Idk I think that’s all up to interpretation because if the curse was to protect her from men then common sense would say that she should’ve only been able to turn men to stone.

It’s the truth. Her face is also often used on half way houses for abused women. Her name means “Guardian, Protectress.”

I don't get how anyone could have made fun of black girls hair. I thought(/still think) it looked amazing as a little kid. They were definitely hating because they were jealous.

I head canon that she eventually got her revenge on Athena & Poseidon and the busted up statues are all that remain of the Greek Pantheon.
