I totally get the message you’re saying but the article reads, “these events are triggering, I want to experience this too but my experiences getting there are trash, and I want to stick it to tradition”. Which are all valid but the presentation of them is

Well it isn’t easy when you’re attending these things as a single person and they somehow become about you. You’re constantly asked why you aren’t seeing anyone and your dating life becomes a thing you have to graciously explain...at other people’s stuff. That’s hard.

Which I totally understand and agree more people need to talk about why this is intrusive and projects onto the attendees but the majority of the essay just reads as her feeling bad because she doesn’t have what’s expected of her and what she has isn’t celebrated.

Well yes but I think people are allowed to feel shitty about being judged for something over which they don’t have much control without being labeled bitter.
