1. Intelligence - How well do they process information? How do they develop arguments? Do they conflate thinking/feeling? Can they learn new information purposefully AND spontaneously?

2. Drive - What goals, if any are they setting for themselves? How do they talk about the problems in their life? Do they look at their life in a healthy manner?

3. Sociability - Do they have close friends or a casual friend circle? Are they interested in other people at all? Do they have someone to call on when they need to deal with the world? How much solitude do they need? Are they normal when in social settings or uncomfortable?

4. Capacity for intimacy - Can you trust them with your psyche? Do they run during difficult moments? Do they have people in their life that they’ve built a healthy history with? Can you be vulnerable with them?

5. Happiness - Do they have purpose? Are they fulfilled by that purpose? How do they look at the world? Do they constantly seek to acquire outside of themselves? Are they more likely to look at the negative in a situation where there’s so much positive?

6. Goodness - How empathetic are they? Are they willing to help others even if it isn’t convenient? Can they control their emotions without discarding them? Will they be turned off by the prospect of having to deal with others and their emotions?

I challenge us all to look in the mirror and see how we match up to what we say we are (smart, driven, sociable, vulnerable, happy, good, etc). No one is perfect, you can pick one thing off that list to work on for the remainder of the year. I promise you will be different.
