Hormonal birth control is a god send for a lot of women. Which is totally needed. I don’t believe it should be taken off the market or unavailable. But I do want doctors & big pharma to be honest with how it operates in the body short/long term.
I want women to know all that comes with birth control so they don’t end up in a situation saying “I wish I knew” like I did when I found out I have PCOS. I had been on birth control since 15.

There’s no reason I should be sitting here with pcos. They say it’s hereditary but nobody in my family has it. My pcos is not related to my blood sugar and I’m not at risk for diabetes.

So my theory: While I was on birth control nonstop for x amount of years my body was attempting to ovulate but they turned to cysts in my ovaries (birth control is supposed to prevent ovulation). Once I got off bc I became symptomatic as my body started to regulate itself.

Went to get ultrasound, bunch of cysts. 2 years later I have practically no symptoms. I’m gonna go get another ultrasound in the future to see if they’re still there or if they’ve subsided on their own.

I personally believe birth control caused it. I also believed birth control caused me to be depressed (it’s a side effect). I don’t ever want to be on birth control ever again but that’s me. Do what’s best for you but don’t ignore all these women’s testimonies.
