On the other hand of this organ situation: I did take being an organ donor off my license as a precaution. If they look me up in the system and see that I said I’m a donor, they can make a choice to either save my life or let me die. I’ll put it in a will or something.
My old license said I was a donor. But as a black woman, our lives are already looked at as less than. We feel less pain. We deserve less care. Our complaints of our bodies go unheard. So I wouldn’t be surprised the medical professionals tasked with my life aren’t biased.
