This the type of brat I aspire to be. Honestly I hate the word submission because it takes away one’s agency to choose (because submitting is to yield to a higher power) but I love to let men take care of me.https://twitter.com/lolameup/status/1082691882046623745 …

Anyway back to this because I feel like more black women should be able to live in that space between being submissive and being fully independent. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be taken care of.

Black women have this aura projected onto us of being fully self sustaining to the point of us being asexual. We should be allowed to express the feminine/receptive side of ourselves without it being taken advantage of by the men we entertain.

But we can’t even express that side because then men confuse it for submission. Submission is if we went to a restaurant and instead of asking me what I was going to eat, the man ordered what HE wanted me to eat. Submission is accepting what someone wants to give you.

I do not want submission. I want assistance and service. Be of service to me and order the food you know I like or have expressed to you that I want. Black women do this for men all of the time. Anticipating the wants/needs of your partner shouldn’t be seen as submission.
