Imma keep it real with you chief, my mom was the same way and I didn’t tell her until I was older that something had happened to me. Shame is a big big piece of this. Kids can hold that pain in and their brains will bury it. https://twitter.com/LaLaBWritin/status/1081254428664041473 …

I never said it wasn’t. It’s very important. I just opened up the door to explore how even in the most perfect situation you still might not want to tell people what’s happened to you. It’s about all the things that happen when you are a victim that ppl don’t think of sometimes

I’m not debating at all because it’s veryyyyy important your kids hear that you will listen and believe them if they ever come to you with that. Even if they don’t come forward they won’t blame their parents which when you do blame your parent? Woo chileeeee.

Those types of parents really really boil my blood. My grandmother was like that with my mother hence her attitude towards protecting me. Til this day still will not admit that she put her only daughter in harms way. How is anyone supposed to heal?!

Absolutely! I’m so grateful for it. We’ve seen too much trauma in the black community and it’s served us no purpose. True justice.
