Just got out of #IfBealeStreetCouldTalk and mannnnnn Barry Jenkins did it again. Such a subtle film and yet the message is brought home so heavily.

And one thing I absolutely love about Jenkins is his affinity for close up shots. You get to see the soul of each character in those moments and I really appreciate it about him.

Regina King’s role was so small though. Don’t know if she’ll get that Emmy, but it’d be nice. She played her small part EXCEPTIONALLY WELL.

And one thing many folk may not touch on, fatherhood. The fact that both characters have their fathers ACTIVE in their lives and its positive all the way through. We don’t see healthy black fatherhood often. Jenkins loves to display that and it’s highly appreciated.
