Can we talk about this real quick because I’ve been obsessed with this movie since it’s been announced with only a title.https://twitter.com/JordanPeele/status/1077564905258020864 …

I’ve seen 7 of the 10 films and from the looks of it, Us will delve back into the psychological field that’s Peele’s home. But the additive of animals (rabbits) is going to be very interesting.

They haven’t given us much in the plot synopsis or the trailer but I’m just gonna throw a theory out and say the “tethered” (the scary people) are a specific expression of themselves they’d probably rather ignore. The parts they might suppress in order to survive as black.

The family seems kind and demure, a model black family. I’m very interested in seeing how Peele thrusts a “good” black family into the horror genre. It’s rarely done.

The initial scene Winston talks very (proper). “This is a classic”. Seems like the daughter knows about things they’d rather her not know related to blackness. The son seems disconnected from the culture while lupita tries to teach him to snap on beat.

If you look at the beach scene, it looks like the black family is the only black family on the beach. Surrounded by white folk but they seem comfortable in it for the most part. Except the daughter who again, seems to be into her blackness despite the son being oblivious.

Which is no surprise to me that the son wanders off and into one of the tethered??? Lupita wants to protect her babies which brings in The Shining.

Because the way Winston went out there with the bat very chill and still soft? I knew it had to be a part of this family that silenced the “scary” parts about being black in order to pursue happiness. All in a Howard sweatshirt.

To add to my theory, I think this family is forced into this wild experiment by possibly their friends because how else would they get them out there away from all other black people? Very on brand for Peele.

I’m just interested in seeing the science behind the tethered. Is it DNA? They said they look like them, act like them, talk like them.... and do they WANT to be tethered? Or is them killing their counterpart what releases them from their own bondage?

I’ll add onto this thread as we get closer to the premiere. I also will be revisiting all of the films they used as well as watching the ones I have yet to see. MERRY CHRISTMAS

I’ve decided that I’m just gonna root for everyone black in the film so I stay on the right side of history.pic.twitter.com/cY3cYCqoZu

I’m watching Dead Again, one of the movies that inspired Us, and it’s low key comedy! Like. Robin Williams is in it. It’s on STARZ. Watch it.

Dead Again also covers karmic times as well duality that will be in Us. Amazing. It’s funny but they in some dark shit.
