I’m watching this documentary called “Unseen” about ELEVEN black women’s bodies found in a black man’s house. And how he was able to get away with it because of views about black women and sex workers. Please watch it if you can, it’s so layered.

And not only are the delving into these murders, but there are just so many testimonies from black men and women about life. Growing up poor, drugs, familial struggles. Everyone was granted space to share and heal when it came to their experience.

Oh and by “get a way with it”, I didn’t say “for so long”. They caught him of course, his house, and he cooperated with the detectives. Craziest part is prior to the discovery, the police hadn’t investigated the disappearances. Eleven women. Gone from the same area.

One woman escaped him and ran to a convenience store, a bodega. Bleeding from her hand, she begged them to call the police because he was trying to kill her. THEY TOLD HER TO GET OUT.

And when it came time for them to lock him up, it was her word against his. The prosecutor said there was not enough evidence against him. She doesn’t even like her husband touching her anymore.

Insane. I cannot believe more people don’t talk about the Cleveland strangler. That’s like the most recent case of serial murder. And by a black man. ‘07-‘09

His perspective was the most interesting honestly because I’m sure that opinion formed after his brother was murdered in that community. You could tell he cared at first and he knew all of the people by name but he changed.
