Be honest though. You don’t think that it’s a little strange that women’s hormonal birth control is a relatively new concept (less than 60yrs) and we truly don’t know the long term effects or the pharma companies will bury those studies?https://twitter.com/wotless_tos/status/1068193205227794433 …

Not only that, but the fact that they started on a similar concept for men and as soon as men started experiencing the same symptoms as women, they stopped the trials? Not weird at all.https://twitter.com/wotless_tos/status/1068193205227794433?s=21 …

Shoot. That second one is alarming enough given the fact that men are always able to produce sperm via spermatogenesis and yet women are born will all of the eggs they’ll ever have. And we use bc to PREVENT to release of those eggs?https://twitter.com/wotless_tos/status/1068193205227794433?s=21 …

Lastly, there’s the misconception that other forms of birth control are not as effective (like timing) but they’re only not effective because there’s not enough education on these things. Can you name and describe every step in your cycle?https://twitter.com/wotless_tos/status/1068193205227794433?s=21 …

It’s very telling that society does not teach both men and women about heir body. Their body’s natural cycles and how things work. But they are quick to tell you not to get pregnant or throw you on bc. Do you even know how your birth control works?https://twitter.com/wotless_tos/status/1068193205227794433?s=21 …

I think regular doctors and OBGYN should not be able to prescribe hormonal birth control. You should have to go to an endocrinologist who specializes in hormones and get whatever you need from them. Birth control is treated like antibiotics and it’s gross.

These tweets are not to bash anyone on birth control. But as someone who was on bc for almost 10 years and someone with hormonal issues, asking these questions and promoting further research is my only purpose. Do what you do but be as knowledgeable as you can. It’s your body.

Pharma companies won’t even put research into things that don’t make them money. So everyone can step away from the podium because we know that big pharma does not care about our long term health.
