The point was in reference to someone feeling uneasy about a lighter woman raising a darker daughter and the prospective fears. The purpose was to explore how we as a community perpetuate standards set forth by white people.https://twitter.com/Abalisah/status/1057785922706722816 …

I know what the tweet was. But skin tone alone is not the final determining factor. THAT is exactly what nuance is.

Assuming the life experiences of others is my issue. Assuming you know what privileges were afforded to people despite full life experiences is the issue. Assuming someone is oblivious to their privilege. You only know these things by talking to others about their lives.

Sis. I understand it. I’ve studied it. Societal privilege is also affected by socioeconomic status. A lighter poor girl could have less privilege than a middle/upper class darker girl. Assuming the experiences of others ends up in futile battles.

We haven’t even talked about education levels, body types, etc. it’s a very layered issue. That’s my only point. Colorism is affected by so many other things. As is racism and sexism. It goes deeper than surface level blame.
