I’ll be honest. Going natural is a test. I’ve had to aid women in getting out of the mindset that their hair is a burden. That thinking goes into how you even go about your hair.

I used to think I had to spend hours on my hair. Realistically I needed to just let my hair be and stop trying to turn it into what I saw other women’s hair to be. I used to hoard products. I used to research ways to change my texture. Work with your hair. It’ll get easier.

Once I stopped trying to change my natural hair, it got easier. I use a shampoo/conditioner/leave in & styling gels and that’s about it. I have mastered blow drying my hair in 20 minutes. I have mastered a 20 min wash & go. I can twist my hair in 30 mins.

I feel like black women are so used to spending copious amounts of time on our hair that we almost became connected with that “burden”. Realistically we are giving ourselves more work to do.
