When Trayvon happened I was in the thick of my college career. I was up on all of the updates of the case. This case solidified me studying African American studies. It’s so recent yet indicative of what it’s like to be black and exist.
I can sit through this doc because I sat through it live. I know Kalief’s story tore me up off of the fact that there was so much i hadn’t known about his story.

I get why a lot of you are opting out. It’s our everyday experience. You don’t need the doc to know it’s happening. White people need to be watching this. Not us. We already know. Some of you are saving yourselves by opting out. I understand.
