Colorism really wasn’t a thing in my family. But when I would go out in the world, i would be exposed to it.

this was my experience too. never noticed within my own family until people outside of it began commenting on the difference between me & my dad’s skin tone (he was much darker when in the army), w/them basically trying to question my paternity. that’s when i was exposed to it.

Same for me I didn’t even realize it until i was out in public with my mom who is a light freckled faced women.
