Keem, thanks for your input. This was flagged this AM to me. The videos were re-reviewed, and we determined they should be age restricted, as they were not Community Guideline violations. The channel will be reinstated. All 8,000 videos will be rolled back to his channel.

Anything going to be happening to the person who manually made the decision to delete someone's channel over this? Clearly they did so after consultation with journalists who had written articles about this video. Will they be trained to avoid this in future?

Sometimes we make mistakes, which is why we have multiple escalation paths for reviewers to raise tough decisions and we give creators the right to appeal. The reviewer will be educated on this outcome and on how to avoid repeating this mistake.

"the reviewer will be educated" wait so a single reviewer is the deciding factor for a channel being terminated or not? Don't decisions like that get reviewed before being pushed through considering its people's livelihoods that it affects in some cases?

It said in the tweet it was flagged in the morning to be brought to attention, probably when they delete a channel it takes it off the website but not off their servers so they as he said can review the videos and make sure they’re either against TOS or not against TOS.

That isn’t the way it should work, certainly not in cases like this.

Well it’s probably because if there was actual graphic content that breaks the TOS they don’t want it to stay up, it obviously doesn’t fully delete the channel because they’re able to restore the channel with all 8K videos, but I agree it shouldn’t necessarily be that way.

The issue is it happened when it shouldn’t have. There was no graphic content. It occurred because there was an outrage article created.

I totally agree it shouldn’t have happened because it was just a video game, but the statement that there was no graphic content is incorrect because it does have graphic content, but it just shouldn’t have been removed because obviously it was just a video game and...

Almost all video games that are popular have graphic content. That doesn’t mean we should stray away from them and start deleting channels because of this, we should just do as we were and make the videos 17+ or 18+ depending on your countries laws.

What’s another odd thing is why isn’t the game automatically age restricted on YT in the first place? Because that would result in a huge loss in ad revenue to YT, so it’s certainly not within their interest to have an age restriction across their whole platform on 1 game.

I get what you’re saying, it should just be user dependently controlled honestly, like if you’re a channel that plays only tennis on the Wii obviously you’ll probably not have an age restriction but if you’re a channel that has some videos with horror games or anything of..
