Great question - no, it isn't!!! And that's exactly why curing patients shouldn't be just left in the hands of corporations.

As a current cancer patient who is taking advantage of conventional and integrative treatments I have meet many others who are highly sceptical of conventional treatment plans, to the point that they do not participate in them.

The obvious corollary is companies will need to create incurable diseases only they have the “cure” for. It’s just good business they will say. We have a fiduciary responsibility they will say.

Better to leave them an affliction or two, some lingering ailments, at least a slight limp and blurred vision. That is how you maximize lifetime value of a customer.

General revenue should be used to fund research into cures. Cancer, Alzheimer's and heart disease would be great but cures for more mundane conditions like depression, addiction or psychosis (in any of their forms) or diabetes would generate huge benefits for those afflicted.
