Yep. I can see why they think that, even though they could not be more wrong. The cost of housing driving everyone else out of the region is a big reason why I moved back to LA. It sucks to be surrounded by *only* tech nerds.

My mother bought her house for like $60k. A house in her neighborhood just sold for over a million.

Seems fair. The median sales price of a home (house/condo/townhouse) in "more affordable" Mountain View is $1.5M - you need at least a $300K salary. https://www.trulia.com/real_estate/Mountain_View-California/ … It's amazing what happens when a region adds jobs, but generally blocks housing from being built.
