Was there really that big a backlash? I saw the email, as an Alice Fraser subscriber and, considering I only pay $1 a month, I wasn't overly concerned. Things cost money, unfortunately

The "change" was that patreon would have just taken a bigger cut of everything. I'm not exaggerating. And they tried to sell it like it would be better for creators. Like all their costumers are too stupid to use a calculator.

Cool, I guessed it would have to be something like that. It's pretty bloody shitty that people have lost patreons out of this. I'm sure it barely even affects Patreon itself
