I believe Airbnb also requires claiming from your actual insurer first, before accessing that host guarantee money.

I'd think so. Not know deets (you'd know) but guess that the insurance they offer is supplementary to that a homeowner needs

This is why I think need some Gov't regulation. Uber & Airbnb need to be very clear - Most ppl don't read fine print.

Not being a lover of the nanny state, I think people need to grow up and make their own mistakes.
