Pasture isn’t equal to agricultural land where corn, soy, wheat are grown. That big square is misleading.
-
-
-
That would be under "Food We Eat", "Feed Export", "Idle/Fallow".
-
Idle/fallow means it’s not in production. And the huge square is where they grow crops like corn & soy (and livestock to be sure). The graphic misrepresents the location & overemphasizes the animal area at the cost of not showing another row crop area. Not a good figure.
-
Srsly. There’s way more soybeans than cows in Minnesota.
-
And in Iowa...and Nebraska...and Missouri...you get the point. Hehehe. :)

well, that would be because much of the west can only support about 1 cow per acre.

The West has a history (especially Wyoming) of distrusting the federal lands set aside. But the big cattle owners still graze on government land. The West invented the word Libratarian and they are not about to give it up.

É só juntar os dados e encontrar quem faça a representação. Profit!

Em 2018 tá um pouco mais difícil convencer as empresas a pagar por isso.

Pretty sure lots of crops are grown in California. I see them all the time, and agriculture is our #1 industry. And there ain't no timberland here in the Central Valley. So I don't get this map.

I will say that a lot of that is very beautiful ranch land in the west where the herd animals are free range and help the environment. It would great land to hike and camp and explore save for the very paranoid people that tend to own it.
-
If done right, of course. Grasslands require large herbivores or they deteriorate. They are required for the ecology.

Where is RESIDENTIAL? Tha fukk?
-
"Rural Housing" and "Urban Housing"
-
Bullshit. Suburban is not rural and not urban. Residential housing regardless of urban, suburban, rural, is an easy, more useful identifier in this map’s simplistic model.
-
Yeah. I didn't like the lack of definition of suburban areas too. Granted, I just skimmed the article before replying. I'm looking forward to reading it more closely when the kids are in bed. Have you read it yet? I think it's fascinating.
-
Just the map. Lack of “residential” is just so flagrant.
