Europe just voted to wreck the internet, spying on everything and censoring vast swathes of our communications https://boingboing.net/2018/09/12/vichy-nerds-2.html …pic.twitter.com/WblkUG120o

CORRECTION: A guy at work actually read the entire 60 pages law text, and he showed me it is not as bad as BoingBoing claimed. The Verge gives a more nuanced view:https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/13/17854158/eu-copyright-directive-article-13-11-internet-censorship-google …

Nah they didn’t wreck “the internet” just introduced more censorship to the EU people. Internet outside the EU will be just fine.

You say this SS if it won't have consequences as long as if you're outside of the EU.

The EU does not own internet. They can legislate whatever they want and websites can just not provide services to the Eu IPs. There are many sites that do that already. You can legislate yourself back to the Stone Age. Cheers mate🍻pic.twitter.com/YrT6VT67FP

No website will black access to the EU for the EU has too big of a market. The only websites that blocked Europeans from accessing them were never meant to have a European audiance and wish to keep spying on their visitors. I'll take GDPR any day.

Haha they did and they will. The internet was invented in the USA and it will stay free and open here. You can have it, sans pictures as text only. Enjoy!!

Ironic you say the internet in the USA is free. Free from what? The GDPR made the European Internet free for users.

No it didn’t. The sites just changed the pop up asking you to agree. If you don’t agree, don’t use the site. Simple? And if you don’t like, don’t use the internet, or the site. You don’t own it. Simple
