I'd be more comfortable with a traditional deactivated virus vaccine than this approach which seems to induce a form of auto-immune disease directly into the cells to generate antigens. This seems highly risky but I'm no expert in this. Interested in your thoughts.

Dr Bogoch, are we still expecting a 12-18 month wait for this vaccine (starting from January). Or is there a decent chance we could have something sooner, based on some of the positive news we’ve been hearing recently?

I honestly have no idea. So much of this depends on the success of these vaccine trials. Most will fail. But with >90 groups taking slightly different approaches, a few will be successful. It is too early to tell which will be the strong candidates.
