A whole lot of pretzel twisting just to avoid the only logical solution, that the NBA has already mandated on everyone else (staff, refs, WNBA, etc...), a mandate for the players.

They already answered this - the vaccine mandate for the players would have to be approved by the National Basketball Players Association. The NBA already proposed it, but the NBPA said no.
