I've recently gone through and unsubscribed to tons of channels I don't watch. I also clean out my twitter follow list about twice a year. I don't want YouTube or Twitter deciding what I want to watch or read for me, because there is no way they'd do a better job than I would.
As social media accounts get older, they follow more and more people. Since users rarely unfollow, feeds get clogged up with junk. I understand the mentality of an algorithm based feed. HOWEVER, that’s on the user to unfollow who they don’t engage with.

I agree 100%. I have had three or four accounts that have been subbed to the same person. I took it upon myself to unsubscribe from them, and I unsubbed from everyone I don't watch actively now.

YouTube home tab > sub box. I still see most of the comment I want to, plus more I'd never have seen. Most regular content I watch regularly I'd just search anyway if my home tab isn't already showing it, which it usually does.

I tend to mute accounts I'm no longer interested in. And then I always turn off retweets except for a few select accounts. Keeps my feed clean and fresh of content I want.

If the amount of people I follow on Twitter increases at the same rate it has been recently, I’ll be probably be following everyone on Earth by 2030. I should probably filter out people I don’t really care about but I’m too polite/lazy too.
