I feel like I just got the ps4 (at launch) and now XBS is next gen? I still don't know if switch is a console or Gameboy successor

I'm pretty sure Xbox Scorpio was confirmed to NOT be next gen. It'll be similar to the PS4 pro, and by that I mean nobody will buy it.
