I frequently see people doing exactly that lol. Just as often if not more often than I saw people with their 3DS in 2011-2015. This is exclusively a money play that they're making sacrifices for, not a: "Well nobody uses it anyway."

I have literally never seen people doing that outside of myself doing at my dad's house to play with my siblings. And I travel a LOT, and have tons of friends with Switches

I see people doing it all of the time. Seeing people do things on vacation (or in a country will the Switch is less popular: i.e Canada) isn't a universal barometer. If people weren't using it for that purpose, the main Switch wouldn't be the flagship in the same way 2DS is.
