I think it would work fine, the adapter fits in there pretty snug and you can mount the adapter the the tripod instead of your camera making it more balanced.

sidenote -- are there really issues in using a DSLR as a dedicated filming camera?
The industry is shifting to mirrorless. I dont think there’s any benefits to using a DSLR anymore, especially for video. For you it’d just be a bigger body

The main thing for me is, I’m a total noob who definitely doesn’t use the whole potential of a DSLR — but at the same time I like the looking achieved and don’t wanna downgrade

I would just get another 70d if that’s what you like. There’s a good condition used one on BH right now for $750. People get too wrapped up in camera specs. If it’s what works for you stick with it. If you want to upgrade to 4K then that’s a different story.
